The Parody In Christian Hip Hop
We all know the specifics on how the Hip Hop movement emerged, need I say more! (yawns)
But on a recent note, more and more websites, publications, radio stations, and social networking sites have surfaced to embrace the "sub" genre.
Here is a list of a few:
Rapzilla.com
Dasouth.com
Holyculture.net
Christrepper.com
Kingdomswag.com
They all have impressive material comparable to professional and socially conscious media outlets available in todays marketplace, which has increased over the years.
As an avid music lover, I frequent live R&B/Hip Hop infused music but I have been extremely dissapointed in lack of substance in most music out as of to date.
On of the websites listed advertised that in the month of June the site recieved over 16 million hits. That is very impressive being that this niche genre doesn't have very many (if any) national radio stations syndicated for this format.
The format has survived among a few acclaimed national artist releases. If you aren't familar with the handful of Gospel Music distribution companies I will save this for another post! This new wave is breathing through grass-root media support and the traditional church congreations. If you can read between the lines, this has developed some pretty touchy topics and visible grey areas that will be addressed in this post continuation on "The Parody In Christian Hip Hop"
Topics in the continuation:
Why do the new and existing rappers have such a parallel comparison to Hip Hop artists?
Unforseen obstacles with a niche demographic.
A visible lack of business and organizational structure in the Christian music industry.
The Future and a ministry challenge for everyone!
Stay Tuned!
